Thankful Thursday!

I'm bringing back thankful thursday! I haven't done it in so long and I really do miss it! For my new followers out there, thankful thursday is just a day that I post a list of things that I am currently thankful for. Whether its something really deep or something really small, it doesn't matter! It's so important that we all realize everything we have and how much we can take for granted! If we want to participate just grab my button on the right side of this page and post your own list!

Today I'm thankful for..

1. My parents helping me until I find another job
2. My boyfriend coming to see me for the weekend tomorrow!

3. Meeting so many new blog friends!
4. Air conditioning! (would not survive Texas without it!)
5. Having such good friends here AND back home!
6. Summer.
7. Getting to spend time with some of the MELK crew last weekend!

8. Creative inspiration lately.
9. A working computer!
10. Having a little brother who feels close enough to me to share things with me!

So, what are you thankful for?

Job Hunt

So I don't think I filled yall in on this but I recently quit my job. When I say recently, I mean about two weeks ago. Why you ask? Honestly, I just really wasn't enjoying it. That sounds like a really petty reason I know. Right now though I really need a job that I can enjoy and that motivates me to go. As I've told yall before, I have depression and do take medicine for it. Well, it was starting to not be very effective anymore so we up-ed my dosage a little before I quit my job. Therefore, I'm having a hard time adjusting to the new amount of medicine and I'm feeling more "depressed" than normal. This is just me getting used to the new amount of medicine. But I couldn't push myself to get up to go to a job I hated at a place I didn't want to be when I was dealing with that. So I quit.

This is my thinking face..

Now though, I don't know what to do! I know I want to do something I enjoy. I've been looking and applying at places that involve art or animals but haven't had any luck so far.  I know job searching isn't easy but I forgot that it was this hard! I was at my past job a year and I was very lucky and got that quick. I know God will give me an opportunity that is just what I need WHEN I need it! (Which I hope is soon..) I don't have any income right now except what my parents are willing to help me out with right now. I've started my etsy shop back up again and hope to do well with that. I'm about to get desperate and put dog walking flyers up in my apartment complex too! If anyone has any encouraging words, I'd love to hear them! I know things will be fine and I'm not fretting YET!

Wii Zumba

This is what I'm doing today.

Zumba on Wii is actually pretty fun and a good workout! On lazy days like today when I don't want to actually GO to the gym, this is just as good! I sweat just as much as if I was at the gym, it's crazy! Zumba is really fun too and not boring like some workouts can be! And doing it on Wii at your own home gives you more courage to give those dance moves everything you got!
The way it works is you put the Wii remote in this belt and strap it around your waist. It is kinda cool that is completely hands free, but you just have to make sure you have it on tight!

You follow the person on the screen and the better you do the more "energy bars" you get. For people who haven't done any zumba before, they have a basics level that you can learn all the steps on before you take on whole songs.

All in all it is a lot of fun and really does work you out! Give it a try if you have a Wii!

Awesome

This is from the TV show "How I met your mother", in case you didn't already know.

This has got to be one of my favorite television shows. I'm not a huge regular TV watcher besides the discovery channel, HGTV, and ABC family. I have my occasional shows that I like to watch here and there like "American Pickers" on History Channel and those wedding shows like "Say yes to the dress". But then I randomly saw this show one day and instantly fell in love. I mean REALLY fell in love. I automatically went out and bought the first season and watched it every chance I got until it was over and then went out to get the second. I kept doing this quite quickly until I was done with the fifth season. I told you I really fell in love. WELL after I finished the fifth season and was on the look out for the sixth, I realize that the season on television right now IS the sixth. So have I been watching it? No! I missed the first few since I was glued to the DVD so I don't want to start watching in the middle. But now I'm dying for the season to end so I can start watching it! My little brother even pre-ordered it for me for my birthday so as soon as it comes out it will be sent to me. That sounds kinda sad, right?

Day Camp

So this past week I went back home on Thursday for a thing called Day Camp picnic. Day camp is something that has been a part of my life since before grade school and has always been the highlight of my summer.

Okay, let me explain a little about Day Camp. Day Camp is a church camp at the church/school that I went to kindergarten at. It is one week during the summer where you go just for the day and don't camp overnight until Thursday night. During camp you learn to fish, canoe, do slingshot, arts & crafts, nature hikes, swim, and of course have a bible message every day. Each day there is chapel where each grade sings their theme song for the week and you do worship time together. Each grade has their own color t-shirt, 1st through 5th grade. First. Second. Third. Fourth. Fifth. Thursday you actually camp overnight which is always an adventure. Half the time, you never get to camp out because it ONLY rains on Thursday nights. When you do though it is a lot of fun, but as a JC or adult counselor a lot of work. I've made a lot of friends through day camp and love being able to reconnect with so many people every year there.

I've participated in Day Camp as long as I've been able to. I went through mini camp first then all the way through Day Camp. I LOVED Day camp so so so much and always looked forward to it. I remember all of the adult counselors and the Jr. counselors. One particular Jr. counselor, Alec, moved up every grade with my group to stay with us and I'm still really close to him to this day. After I went through all the grades myself, I became a Jr. counselor during middle school and high school. I LOVED working with those little kids and trying to make memories for them like I had with Day Camp. I'm partial to the third grade because I always thought it was the perfect grade to work with. After high school, I was a "purple shirt" for one year as the Arts and Crafts person. The purple shirts are just the directors and coordinators basically. After doing that I decided I wanted to get back with the third grade and became an adult counselor.

Like I said before, this year was my first year not to be able to go back to Day Camp. However, my little brother was a Jr. counselor this year and it was fun to get to see him interact with his kids. I still got to see all of my friends and in-particular my favorite Alec! Hopefully, I'll be able to continue to participate in Day Camp in some way for quite some time to come. I want to give back like they gave to me! Here are a few pictures, I couldn't find any really old ones with me as a kid though.

Summer Sun

One of my favorite things about summer is being able to be out in the sun so much. I love laying out in the sun by the pool or by a lake or really just in my backyard. I've had the chance this past week to be out quite a few times and it was GREAT! This is Texas, we HAVE to be by a body of water if we are going to be outside for so long. It already is in the 100's every day. Surprisingly you get used to quite quickly or maybe that's only after you live here your whole life..? I will probably go fishing again this weekend and have to go super early to avoid the heat. Here are a few pictures of my time in the sun the past few days!

So cool!

Londay Day 4!

Oh my fellow bloggers, I am so sorry I have been absent! I wasn't feeling well last week and summer school had started as well. I think I've really just had too much going on! But I will continue with my trip to London!

Now day 4 started out early! We had a train to catch!

We were going to Bath, England for a couple days! This was my first time to be in a real train station so I thought it was really cool. We literally almost missed our train though because we couldn't find a trash can.

The train ride was about 2 hours long. It would have been extra cool if it was an older train like the one in Harry Potter. Sorry, nerd moment!

Finally we arrived in Bath! We had booked a one night stay in a hostel there and had to find it which wasn't too incredibly hard! Here's a glimpse of the room we had. It was a very nice hostel and the bed was quite comfortable. We didn't stay there long just left our stuff and went back out! We headed to the thermae bath spa..

These pictures were taken from the roof-top pool of the spa! Now this spa was amazing! We got a 2 hour session with an extra 45 minutes for food and drinks. There were 3 floors of the spa all open to us. The top was the roof-top pool which was nice and warm. All of the water used was actual mineral water from the spring there. It was very cool! I've never spent so long in a spa and thought it was so cool to get to wear the white robes around, haha.

This was the 2nd floor. It was full of steam rooms and a waterfall shower in the middle. Those things to the left are little foot bath's which were neat. This floor was definitely our favorite floor and where we spent the most time. Each little steam room was a different scent, our favorite being an apple crisp one. The bottom floor was another pool area with some bubbles and a little flow kinda like a lazy river to it. Very cool.

We did take advantage of the little cafe they had to give us extra time! This was our view out the window. How cool is that?! Don't you love their roads? All of the roads in Bath were like that. Which by the way, Bath was probably my favorite part of my whole trip which I twill talk more about later. The top picture is a picture of my awesome smoothie completely natural. Then the middle picture is the selection of breads and fruit we got that all was amazing.

After the spa we walked around Bath just a bit and went to Bath Abbey (above). It was absolutely gorgeous! I love this kind of architecture, it's so fascinating. We didn't get to stay too long inside because we walked in pretty close to closing. After we left we made our way back to our hostel. Bath is incredibly small compared to London so it seems like nothing to walk anywhere in Bath. When we got back to the hostel we layed down and ended up falling asleep for at least an hour before dinner.  Once we got up we went down to the front desk and asked for a good suggestion for dinner.

He suggested this little Italian restaurant around the corner and let me tell you... it was AMAZING! This was my number one favorite meal of my entire trip. We walked in and the little Italian man up front asked "Do you have reservations?" and of course, we said "Um, no..". So he continues with "That's okay, let me see if we can squeeze you in" then puts his arms around both of us and kisses us each on the cheek and says "See! I squeeze you in!". It was quite funny and cute.

This was my dinner. AMAZING. I ate every last bite, which is rare for me. I'm not even sure what the name of it was, I decided really quick. Then my drink up top was a bellini, quite good. When we left the same man up front asked "How was it?" and of course we started saying how amazing it was and he goes, "No! I ment the kiss!". Once again, very cute. After dinner we went back to our hostel and passed clear out.

Day 5 is also spent completely in Bath so stay tuned!
